Peridot Beads
Peridot is a valued gemstone known by geologists as forsteritic olivine and takes on an olive green color. Even so, peridot speciments vary in their color intensity and green tint due to variations in the amount of iron present. Tints range from yellow to dark, brownish green. The most valued color (and most expensive) is dark olive-green. High quality peridot is expensive; peridot beads tend to be made of lower quality peridot.
Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August.
