Onyx Beads
Onyx is a type of chalcedony marked by bands of many colors. Larger specimens often resemble agate. The bands in onyx do tend to be more parallel than those found in agate, however.
Most onyx beads on the market are black onyx. Onyx with reddish bands are often called sardonyx beads ("sard" refers to shards of red).
