Sterling Silver Crimp Beads
Crimps, sometimes called crimp beads, are one of the most important findings. Crimps are most often used to "tie off" the beading wire on which a necklace or bracelet has been strung. Here are the steps:
- Run the beading wire through the crimp.
- Wrap the wire around the clasp or toggle loop.
- Run the wire back through the crimp.
- Pull the wire until the bracelet or necklace is tight.
- Crimp (pinch) the crimp bead with a crimping tool.
Looking for a crimping tool? We like Beadalon's line (Visit Their Site).
We offered a special line of crimps that had a thicker wall than most available crimps. This added strength to the piece, and worked well when the designer could conceal the crimp.
