Sterling Silver Floral Beads
The beads in this part of the gallery have one thing in common -- the use of antiquing and stamping to create flower and tree patterns on the bead. The process is difficult and is practiced by just a few of the best silversmiths on the island of Bali.
It begins by creating through stampling of flat sterling sheets the basic bead that serves as a canvas. The bead has elevated impressions of some feature of plant life (or other motifs). These are made to pop out by masking them and then antiquing the rest of the bead.
If you ever buy a bead like this, don't dip it into a tarnish remover. The effect will be lost.
